Re: a not-that-old interview with M
You know the second time I blew the door hinges off of the closet I came out as a "goth" and considered myself that for a number of years until I started to discover other forms of music. From where I stand now I see where alot of the artists I listened to were never goth and that the "goth" label has really prevented alot of artists from getting the proper exposure and credit they deserve. I am in no way trying to insult anyone here who calls themselves goth but I just wonder sometimes why the goth label was applied (outside of the typical stories surrounding Joy Division, Siouxsie, ect.). I see it even with the "christian" label. Sixpense None the Richer's demise springs to mind. I don't know if I even like the term "darkwave". But as someone mentioned here it all comes down to sales and corporate shagging.
