I know, I almost feel kind of guilty because I didn't spend nearly that much on 
other people.  But there was a really need part of the MAEA (Michigan Art 
Education Association) this year that has children all over Michigan from 
grades 4 to 8 make really cool pottery bowls for donations that are used to 
feed hungry children and families in Michigan.  I made a donation for each 
person I was buying for this year, sent in a description of each person and the 
children personalized the bowls.  My sister loves Scooby Doo and blue leopard 
print so the bowl came back with Scooby Doo colours on the outside and blue 
leopard print on the inside...it was so cool.  The young student that made it 
named it Dorene's Daring Duo.  I thought that made a good Christmas gift, 
knowing that somewhere in Michigan a family would be able to feed themselves.  
And I decided that this year instead of last minute shopping I would do it 
throughout the year...if I can restrain myself from giving them away really
 early.
