swans vs. sy

well wasn't it Michael Gira who lept into the audience
at a Swans gig and beat the shit out of someone for
smiling? Michael explained - "he was looking like he
was having too-good-of-a-time" We had a laugh about
that story when i saw them years ago in berkeley. Or
have you listened to "You See Through Me" lately?
Sure, Thurston Moore seems really pretentious and i'll
be the first to admit that i've found their last four
or five albums less than stellar. but i could really
care less about what they're like in person, i think
both Swans and Sonic Youth are extremely talented in
their own right and i will always have a great love
and respect for their music.
to me, SY's Lee Ranaldo is one of my guitar heroes and
he's a nice guy to boot! one of my prized possessions
is a postcard from him after i sent him a tape of my
own latent teenage guitar terrorism. lol i can't even
listen to that anymore! much less play like that.
