hey everyone! i figured i'd write this to all of you so i don't have to tell
the story umpteen times! :)

first of all, some of you know mike threw out his back so bad the week
before the move that he could barely walk. so that added a whole new twist
to the cross country adventure!

the week before we moved i kept calling the apt. complex to confirm the
address (before we did all our change of address forms). i got the "yes!
it's your address!!" message on saturday. sunday we dropped all our address
change forms in the mail and did the rest online. monday the apt. complex
called to tell us that they had decided to put us in a different apt.
because the tenants of our apt. were not going to leave!!! soooo...this
naturally caused a lot of trouble. we spent the next several days getting
that stuff straightened out. the following sunday was moving day.

we packed the car full and shoved the cats in. they were actually fine in
the car. daisy squalled and hid and janemary sat on the arm rest between us
in the front. at nights in the hotel they would hide....beneath the
bed.....which was fun in the morning. cats can get into rather small spaces.

may 1st - 95 degrees - mesa, arizona - The Apartment.

we arrive around 1:30 PM.

first words uttered,  "we have some good news and we have some bad news".

"please don't tell me you're changing our apt. again" says mike.

"well..........."

seems the tenants of our SECOND apartment are ALSO not going to move.

so we ask to bring the cats in so they won't die of heat stroke. janemary
has climbed so far up under the seat that she is stuck. it takes us 20
minutes to pry the roasting, terrified feline from under the seat. the cats
are so afraid they are panting and shedding hair by the handfull.

(incidentally...there is an extraordinary amount of pitbulls in our complex.
so far they are all really sweet dogs. but we won't let the cats on the
balcony. there are two that live above us....very cute...but i still am a
bit nervous....)

"this NEVER happens......we'll put you in a two bedroom for one month until
they're out and then you can move over there......free electricity for a
month....we PROMISE your phone and cable will be turned on and your mail
will get forwarded, we'll tell the mailman (cuz you know, he only lives to
watch for our mail....he's super human)............."

phone not turned on. cable not turned on. mail lost due to confusion.
(including important checks with money we NEED)

address changes for the third time.

NOT happy. the delay is causing major changes in our plans.

we complain every day.....sometimes twice...sometimes more

(you have to understand that at this point everything they have "promised"
has not happened)

they decide (after we demand) that we can stay in the two bedroom for the
remainder of our lease at the one bedroom price. we have a washer and dryer
in our apt. they wave the pet fee and give us a free membership to the
workout center.

DAMN STRAIGHT!

so, needless to say, this has been a VERY trying experience. all the
planning we did was thrown out the window. every single bit of planning!

we're finally starting to settle in though.

oh! and the china we shipped completely wrapped in bubbles and double boxed
that is over a hundred years old is short a few pieces....seems UPS likes to
drop kick expensive items.

BUT our apt. is in a beautiful part of the complex.......overlooking the
court yard. tons of flowers, trees, waterfalls and little pools of water
with fountains.

so that's nice.

OH! here's another funny thing!!!!! when we got here and were all pissed off
about all this stuff the girl in the office goes "you guys picked a great
time to move in!!!!! we're having a volleyball tournament in a few days"....

UM........yea......that makes it all better honey.....thanks!
