"As one aflame laid bare by desire" the new cd from
Black tape for a blue girl . . .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        "As one aflame..." will be in stores in only three and a half weeks
(January 12th, 1999) and there is already noticeable interest being
stirred up by this release. "Billboard" ran a 1/3 page article on the band
in late-November, the newest issue of "Propaganda" has a full page piece,
"CMJ" will have a review in their mid-January issue, as well as blacktape's
"Given" on the CD that comes with Jan's "CMJ monthly" and the Jan 1st issue
of "Alternative Press" will also have a full page on the band!
        The reviews we have seen advances of have been extremely glowing.
We hear there is a great one in "Ink-19" (haven't seen it yet); and here is
a small excerpt from Philadelphia's "Fright-X Magazine" which will be out
shortly . . .
        "As one aflame..." is one of the most complete and well thought out
CDs I have ever heard. It develops as an elaborate play of thoughts and
feelings unfolding in delicate and deeply felt spires of transcendental
thought. The emotional concepts pivot around lust and love . . . desire and
attraction . . . passion and heartache . . . The music is well written and
the execution is flawless. Even the cd booklet is breathtaking. Sam
Rosenthal has indeed created a masterpiece, and in effect a very difficult
act to follow. Without a doubt, this is one of the best independent label
releases of the year."
        Of course the album will be available across the country at
Borders, Hot Topic, Virgin, Barnes and Noble and all the cool indie shops
that have been supporting us over the years. If none of those are available
to you, you can purchase it from our on-line shop after January 1st . . .
and the disc will arrive at your house right around the time of the Jan
12th street date . . .
The Holiday Season is time for giving
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, you've got a little extra cash burning a hole in your pocket and you
wanna do something nice for one of your fave goths artists? Well, here's a
little holiday wishlish for you to keep in mind during your last minute
christmas shopping . . . .

Nick from the Changelings says "You KNOW how I feel about that little dog"
-- you can't go wrong with a trip to Taco Bell to purchase one of those
plush and loveable talking chihuahuas! Nick would be a very happy boy and
forever grateful if he opened his pobox Christmas day to find 300 (or so)
of those loveable mutts waiting for him (and since they're only $4 you
might wanna get some for friends and family as well!).
        Nick Pagan -- Pobox 5583 -- Atlanta, Ga.  31107

Tara from Lycia loves stuffed animals and things with angels on it. I can't
give you a specific recommendation, but use your imagination and watch this
little girl's eyes light up! Tara is also featured in a brief cameo in the
New issue of Voltaire's "Oh My Goth" (get that for your darkity dark
friends).
        tara vanflower -- Pobox 1263 -- Kent, OH 44240

Blacktape's Lisa Feuer loves Nightmare Before Christmas -- and her holiday
would be a truly happy one if this lovely lass found a variety of Jack and
Sally things in the pobox on the 8th day of Hanukkah. If you are a
Nightmare fan, you MUST check-out the beautiful battery operated snowglobe
at the Disney Store (while supplies last), with music box and very
intricate characters dancing all around the edges. Don't get that for Lisa,
however (it's kinda pricey!), buy it for yourself!
        Lisa Feuer -- Pobox  166155 -- Chicago IL 60616

And you . . . what do YOU want for Christmas? The best entry ('best' being
a very arbitrary thing) will win something nice from us here at Projekt and
be printed on the email list.

Goth in the Heartland -- part 2. An update from Columbia MO
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you have a scene happening in your city, send a report my way . . .
perhaps I'll be able to get it on the email list (This report was not meant
to exclude anyone, so if you were left out, my apologies)
Reporting from Columbia, Missouri: You've probably heard all about COMO
from one or more of the other fine folks here, but let me throw my two
cents in. A great scene supported by a bunch of hardworking, friendly
people and enriched by FOUR goth-leaning bands...hard to believe for an
isolated town of about 75,000. I'm sure Erin Knowles, booker for the Down
Under Bar and leader of the excellent band Soda Ash, has been mentioned to
you (saintvirus@support-cause.juno.com). She and her band are beyond fabulous. Another
band is Babylon HoR (c650432@support-cause.showme.missouri.edu). A COMO goth listserv has
contributed to the health of the scene (http://goths.mu.org/). I'm a DJ at
a local commercial AAA station I do my best to help publicize area shows.
Yes, we do have a fun little scene down here in the sticks and we'd love to
see more Projekt artists come our way. Thanks for mentioning us!
FEAR AND LOATHING (on the internet)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, well. I offended a few folks out there, for daring to speak up about
politics (I thought an open-mind was ENCOURAGED in artists!). So as not to
incur the wrath of busybodies (not today, anyway), I give you a quote to
chew on . . .

"Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its
 victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under
 robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies, The robber baron's
 cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated;
 but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for
 they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
         - C.S. Lewis, _God in the Dock_

        at The Bank in NYC
        Celebrate the release of version 14 of Interface Magazine.
                Every year, stockings and gift bags are prepared for
patrons. Last year, they gave away over 1000 CDs and cassettes, as well as
posters, stickers, magazines, t-shirts and assorted promotional materials
(from more than 30 labels, major and independent) to a crowd of over 850
people. 1996 remains the biggest event (with over 5000 promo items from
nearly 50 labels); but Interface is hoping to eclipse that this year.
